First of all, happy 2013 every­one!
I’ve been a bit absent lately because I par­tic­i­pated in three craft fairs this Christ­mas, the last one just a week ago, and the truth is I’ve been very busy.

Between prepar­ing new things, the fairs them­selves, which are thou­sands of hours, and all this mixed with meals and Christ­mas din­ners of rigor, I have ended-up pooped.
So I decided to take last week off (well, semi-off, between one thing and another I have not stopped.)

Despite the fatigue, the results have been very pos­i­tive, because you learn a lot in con­tact with peo­ple. You can see first hand how they react to your stuff, what they like, what they pay most atten­tion to, learn every­thing you can, then apply it to improve your products.

Another thing I love about fairs, is to meet other peo­ple who, like me, try to make a liv­ing doing what they love. It is a hard and dif­fi­cult road (at least for me it is being so), an attempt to lead a dif­fer­ent life, but it is very encour­ag­ing to see that you are not alone.

Antes que nada, feliz 2013 a tod@s!
He estado un poco ausente últi­ma­mente porque he par­tic­i­pado en 3 ferias estas navi­dades, la última hace justo una sem­ana, y la ver­dad es que he ido liadísima.

Entre preparar cosas nuevas, las ferias en sí, que son miles de horas, y todo esto mez­clado con las comi­das y cenas navideñas de rigor, he acabado hecha caquita.
Tanto es así, que esta sem­ana he deci­dido tomármela de des­canso (bueno, de semi-descanso, que entre unas cosas y otras no he parado.)

A pesar del can­san­cio, el bal­ance ha sido muy pos­i­tivo, porque se aprende un mon­tón del con­tacto directo con la gente. Puedes ver en primera per­sona cómo reac­cio­nan ante tus cosas, lo que más les gusta, lo que más les llama la aten­ción, y todo lo que apren­des lo puedes luego aplicar para mejo­rar tus productos.

Otra cosa que me encanta de las ferias, es cono­cer a otra gente que, como yo, intenta ganarse la vida haciendo lo que les gusta. Es un camino duro y difí­cil (al menos para mí lo está siendo), un intento de lle­var una vida difer­ente, pero da muchos áni­mos ver que no estás sola.

These are the illus­tra­tions of my 2013 cal­en­dar. They are already cut and ready for fram­ing or hang­ing, because it would be a shame to keep them in a drawer after the year ends, don’t you think? So it’s a cal­en­dar + post­cards, all in one! ;)
